San Juan 2000 Development Association's mission is to promote commercial, cultural, industrial and recreational development within and in the vicinity of the Town of Silverton and San Juan County, Colorado.  We promote and assist the growth and development of small business concerns in the area, and maintain the strength of the existing economic structure of the County including affordable and workforce housing.  Our main goal is to increase employment and income in the county, and thereby improve the welfare of the people.

Our Executive Director Karen Hoskin has been with San Juan Development Association as Director for 2 and a half years.  She has a Master of Science degree and 15 years of community development and non-profit administration experience.  But really it is her love for Silverton that is her greatest qualification for the job.  Karen and her husband Brice own and operate 3 local businesses (Mountain Boy Sledworks, Beckoning Design and Montanya Distillers). Together they have 2 sons, ages 8 and 10.  The Hoskins think there is no better place on earth to work hard, because access to where they play hard is right outside their back door.
