Community Development and Enhancement

It is important to any effort to attract jobs to consider the amenities of the Silverton and San Juan Mountain community.  San Juan Development Association works as a proponent and occasional project manager, when warranted, of local community development projects.  These projects include parks, infrastructure, community facilities, services, and more.

San Juan Development Association plays an active role in supporting and developing (when appropriate):

  • access to continuing education

  • childcare and early childhood education

  • health care, dental care, mental health services

  • parks and recreation

  • youth services

  • summer youth programs

  • arts and culture

  • local events and activities

Specifically, SJDA has been involved in:

  • Kendall Mountain Recreation Area

  • Molas Lake Park

  • Brownfield Redevelopment at the Walsh Smelter Site

  • Skate Park development

  • Community Park Development at the Anvil Mountain Neighborhood
